Portable
The portable unit
One housing on castors, one exhaust hose into the window, plug it in. No installation, no permit, back in the corner in autumn. In return: audible, and with a hose at the window.

Split
The split system
Indoor unit on the wall, outdoor unit outside — the refrigerant line in between. Quieter, more efficient, and it heats in winter too. The connection belongs in expert hands.

Permanently installed, connected by a qualified technician.
Important about split systems: in Germany, refrigerant-carrying equipment may not be filled and commissioned by laypeople — that requires a certificate of competence. The installation kit with a 3 m line is part of the delivery, not a licence to commission the system yourself.

Buying too small means the unit runs non-stop and still does not cool. Slide the area to the size of your room — the slider is this site’s own scale.
